I worked with the Executive Director of DomSETCo to strategize about what information needed to be included in the annual report; I then wrote the text and designed the report.
DomSETCo is an amazing organization with a simple yet powerful mission: The Dominica Sea Turtle Conservation Organization Inc. coordinates national sea turtle research, ocean conservation, education and ecotourism in the Commonwealth of Dominica.
Financials tell a story as much as the narrative does. The story here: the organization is managing its money responsibly, but it needs to diversify its income streams to remain sustainable.

In addition to museums, I’ve worked with other nonprofits types of nonprofits as well. I have certificate in Nonprofit Management and Leadership from the Institute of Nonprofit Practice (a program I highly recommend, by the way).
Development materials need to be engaging, tell a compelling story, demonstrate the impact of support, and include a call to action. These elements are equally important whether the piece is about museums or sea turtles, as in my work with DomSETCo, above. I have experience writing a wide variety of development materials, including annual reports, appeal letters, requests for corporate and in-kind support, membership appeals, and more. I’ve written a number of successful grants to support the creation of audio tours, from script-writing through production.
Many of the grants I’ve written and managed have been for programs, classes, and workshops. Programs that reach underserved audiences (such as free admission days) are good candidates for some types of grants.
Grant funding I have requested has supported professional development for teachers as well as for the museum’s own staff.

Grants are an essential component of nonprofits’ income, yet staff don’t always have the time to research opportunities, identify appropriate grants, create budgets, write narratives, and compile reports. That’s where I can help. I have experience with all steps of the grant process, from initial inquiries to final reports. I’ve written and implemented numerous successful grants on the local, state, and national level, from foundations, corporations, and government agencies. Like all good writing, grant writing involves telling a compelling story. Grantors especially want to know how the impact of the project they fund will be measured; it’s particularly important to have effective metrics in place to answer these questions. As an outside grant writer, I can provide objectivity that ensures that your project and its goals are clear to a layperson.
